SHORT TERM
Formation of Team for your assigned POD
The Meta Campus Experience
The team termed as POD will include oncology surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and allied/ support groups and individuals that are responsible for the care provider to a cancer patient.
The GVON site-specific POD will arrange and facilitate academic sessions that will focus on preventive oncology, current updates in oncology including national and international conference coverage (eg best of ASCO, ESTRO, ESMO etc), latest guideline reviews and Journal Clubs & Critical appraisals focusing on capacity building of young oncologist. The POD will also help to discuss problem-based scenarios with innovative problem-solving solutions and craft a way forward to enhance cancer care in Pakistan, focusing on the development of site-specific practice with an understanding of the challenges faced by our healthcare models. The aim is to train the younger generation to adopt international standards as per their social challenges. Meta Campus initiative has been chosen to be a platform for all the activities. te). Using social media platforms to create awareness against prevalent cancers and patient-related education material is another priority (via TEFF).
Social Media presence for Patient experience
The POD will guide to the publication of patient information about different cancer and the management of side effects of treatment. The POD may also plan monthly awareness flyers on social media focusing on red alert signs and symptoms etc.
INTERMEDIATE - TERM
Tumor Boards
Building a national and international network of healthcare providers that will encourage and facilitate tumour board culture and facilitate its activities. TEFF experience will be instrumental as a group of undergraduate students are working on the same goal.
GVON Leadership trait development
Our three-tier leadership program is specially designed after taking into consideration the required attributes being incorporated into the curriculum worldwide for young healthcare providers and residents and allied staff to enhance their interpersonal, intrapersonal and core leadership skills, with an important emphasis on communication skills, problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, strategic visioning, and entrepreneurial mindset in health care.
Research
Research group collaboration for initiatives and support. This will be done by arranging academic activities under the basics of research, use of stats, critical appraisal of grey zone areas to develop research questions, and identifying & establishing communication with the world leads to create the research culture. International collaborations for trial designs, participation and grant writing to avail funds and conduct top-notch research from Pakistan is the next priority for the research wing under each POD.
General Practitioner Training & Network Development
Supportive POD will lead this domain with the assistance of other site-specific PODs. Each to develop and identify leading gaps in leading gaps pertinent to their domain. This collaborative work will now focus on developing lectures and educational videos focusing on emergency and supportive care for cancer patients.
