TEFF DUHS

Viral Hepatitis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma

TEFF collaborated with an NGO to conduct an informative session about viral hepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma, and the subsequent role of a multidisciplinary tumor board in managing the disease.

Breast Cancer Donations

Dr. Fatima Shaukat- Radiation Oncologist at Cyberknife along with the team of TEFF-JSMU Chapter initiated the idea of donating brand new scarves and caps for breast cancer fighters. 

We were joined by Dr. Ahmed Nadeem Abbasi- Head of Radiation Oncology at Aga Khan University Hospital who supported the cause.

General Body Meeting

The General Body Meeting allowed the TEFF team to lay down its aims and introduce all departments and discuss its way forward, proving to be an ice-breaker for the team and an invaluable brainstorming event.

Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

TEFF worked hand-in-hand with the Breast Cancer Unit at Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi to conduct the annual Breast Cancer Awareness session. The event witnessed a massive turnout of students in support of the cause, distribution of flyers across wards, and was graced by the presence of DUHS's Vice Chancellor, Dr Saeed Qureshi.

The "Radiology of Common Cancers" session by TEFF's guest speaker Dr Fahad Haroon offered an invaluable overview of radiology and its vital contribution to the working of a multidisciplinary tumor board.

Mock Tumor Board

On 29th October 2022, TEFF conducted its first ever Mock Tumor Board---an interactive simulation for medical undergraduates, representing an actual multidisciplinary tumor board meeting.

Newsletter release

TEFF JSMU released its first ever Newsletter where we introduced our hardworking core team as well as associates. The leading body and heads expressed their gratitude to the organization and gave their thoughts on the journey so far. The newsletter encompassed the goals for the tenure as well.

8th of September 2023

It was held at the JPMC Surgical complex to discuss oncology cases varying from breast cancer to malignant melanomas and carcinoid tumors. The MDT was a huge success with senior doctors and residents in attendance and a full house of TEFF associates eager to learn.

Distribution of Newsletters to HODs

11-12th of September 2023

TEFF leadership visited HODs of ENT, Plastic Surgery, and Surgical wards S1, S2 and S3 to distribute the Newsletters and spread the word about TEFF as an organization and the work we do so that we can expand our MDTs to specialized departments too. As a result, the HOD of ENT, impressed by the organization’s work, suggested to have a meeting to discuss the possibility of an ENT tumor board at JPMC.

MOCK oncology Exam for FCPS candidates

Exams are intended to develop sense of responsibility among those learners to remember the concepts and present them in a most valuable manner. When it comes to the Exit exams of medicine and it's subspecialties, exam days become dreadful which ultimately effects the performance of the candidates.

To address these issues and making candidates fimillar to exam environment group of young oncologist lead by Dr Afzal conducted the MOCK oncology Exam for FCPS candidates on 25th November 2023. The the purpose of this activity is to provide a platform where the candidates can analyze their knowledge and skills. They have an opportunity to discus their weaknesses with the seniors in a pleasant environment and know how to overcome them. This mock exam gives a confidence to the candidates 


So they become more conscious of their exam performance. Also candidates learn time management which is a key to success on the Day of actual exam.
